Montemar Home

A family holiday house on the Alentejo coast, now also open to guests. Its architecture draws on the traditional Moroccan house, organised around a courtyard and a direct relationship between inside and outside.

Our interior proposal brings together two vernacular references: the constructive simplicity of southern Portugal, and the materials, colours and decorative details of Arab culture. The result is calm and coherent, with simple forms, natural materials in neutral and earthy tones, and small touches of colour, always with comfort in mind.

With seven bedrooms, the house is organised for rest and leisure, with areas for games, films and time together. We designed deep linen sofas that stay cool in summer and welcome a crowd, whether family or guests. Acacia bedside tables and a bookcase warm the rooms, stone coffee tables in terracotta red and black anchor the living spaces, and light curtains soften the sea light.
